Delta Community House, through the work of Delta Community Support Trust (Delta Trust), hosts many community activities, services and programmes reaching over 4,000 people every year.
In response to Christ’s love, Delta Trust seeks to empower people in Richmond and wider Christchurch to participate fully in community life by assisting them to establish positive relationships and personal growth. This is represented in its pictorial creed.
Delta Trust has three departments:
1. Friendship Link which provides activities for people with intellectual and/or psychological disabilities
2. The Evergreen Club which runs an activities programme on week days for older people
3. Community Development Services that encompass empowerment courses, food store, budget advice, community meal and café, cultural support groups, community gardening and other initiatives.
Delta Community House is a candidate for a free lift and level from Smartlift because it sunk unevenly in the ground after the earthquakes and now regularly floods when it rains heavily.
The insurer of the building cash settled the claim but unfortunately the payment was insufficient to cover all repairs the building needs.
If the building was re-leveled at no cost to the community, the insurance settlement could be used to improve the building for Delta Trust and the wide range of other community and church groups who regularly use and hire the facility.
